- Street Maintenance - Stallings is responsible for maintaining roads which are not in the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) maintenance system and have been formally adopted into the Town's maintenance network. Once a year an assessment is done by a professional engineer to determine the condition of the streets. Based on the condition and money in the budget, paving projects are scheduled. Paving is contracted out with various paving companies. The major thoroughfares such as Stallings Rd., Old Monroe Rd., Hwy 74, Lawyers Rd., etc. are maintained by the NCDOT.
